3.8 Flash REA

A Reddit user describes using the REA MCP from GitHub together with Gemini 3.8 Flash and Antigravity to reverse engineer their own copy of Black Ops 2 Zombies, streaming its assets into a personal Bevy/Rust reimplementation.

About this case

The author explains that they took the REA MCP from GitHub, set it up with Gemini 3.8 Flash and Antigravity, pointed it at a Black Ops 2 Zombies executable, and asked it to help understand the gameplay mechanics so they could rewrite them in Rust with Bevy. They report that after about a day they had a working Bus Depot Zombies running in Bevy with assets streaming from their own copy of BO2, with some remaining issues such as missing collisions and floating zombies. The post is a concrete, step-by-step account of a legitimate personal reverse-engineering and interoperability project built on REA.

I’ve been seeing all this talk about REA and MW2 having the skate mechanics. I wanted to give it a try but didn’t want to splurge on a Claude or GPT subscription, so I thought why not just try Gemini 3.8 Flash. I know it’s not Opus 5.5 or a frontier model that started this whole REA craze, but I already had it. I got the REA MCP from GitHub and downloaded Antigravity. I set up Gemini to have the REA tools and then it was off. I pointed it to a Black Ops 2 Zombie exe, and explained I would like to understand the gameplay mechanics and how it all works for a personal project, and that the easiest way for that is to reverse engineer it and rewrite it in rust using Bevy. I also nudged it and had it look up the already existing MW2 Skate3 mashup. After about a whole day, some instances of what it created was terrible and crashed my computer, I’m actually playing a decent looking Bus Depot Zombies in Bevy. The assets are being streaming from my copy of BO2 correctly and the gameplay mechanics are setup pretty decent. Some items don’t have collision, and zombies are floating instead of walking, but it’s all B02 assets running in Bevy and I’m having it refine it further to fix the said issues. TLDR; If you want to give REA a try using Antigravity and 3.8 Flash it won’t be Opus or Astra, but you can totally do it! submitted by /u/hunterslilbro to r/GeminiAI [link] [comments]
