GitHub's #1 Trending Skill Is Insane (5 Use Cases)
AI LABS walks through REA (Reverse Engineer Anything), the trending MCP server for AI agents, showing setup with Claude Code and Codex and five tested use cases: cloning a feature like Obsidian's graph view, competitor analysis, bug hunting, performance checks and a security audit for exposed keys and data.
About this case
GitHub's #1 Trending Skill Is Insane (5 Use Cases)
REA (Reverse Engineer Anything) is the number one trending repo on GitHub, and it lets Claude Code take apart any app or website. We go through the REA GitHub setup, connect the REA MCP, and show 5 ways to use reverse engineering to build, test and secure your own app.

REA Reverse Engineer Anything is an MCP server for AI agents. It digs into everything an app or website sends to your browser, follows a click back to the exact code that sends the request, and saves what went out and what came back at every step. Then it turns all of that into a written explanation of how a feature works. Every finding is labelled as seen, guessed or unknown, so a guess can't pass as a fact. It only sees what reaches your browser, so anything on a company's own servers stays hidden. It also works on some desktop apps.
In this video we show you how to use REA GitHub from install to your first run. The install command is in the GitHub REA repo. It detects your coding tools, so you can set up REA Claude Code and REA Codex in one go. It adds a reverse engineering skill that every REA Claude session can use, plus around 170 tools through the MCP. That works whether you run Claude Code on Opus 5.5 or use Codex as your AI agent.
Then we go through 5 Claude REA use cases we tested, each one a different way of doing reverse engineering with AI: → Rebuild a feature that works like the original (Obsidian's graph view and Notion's board view) → Run competitor analysis that finds features their websites never mention → Fix a broken feature and trace the bug (prices on screen that didn't match the price charged) → Run a full checkup on your site (speed, broken links and layout issues on phones) → Check your app for leaks like exposed API keys and customer data
If you want to understand how any app works and bring that into your own, Reverse Engineer Anything REA is one of the most useful tools you can give your AI agents right now.
